on the 12th of September my family and i are looking forward to our family holiday in phuket but we are unsure of the coup going on there any advice on weather it will be ok it doesn’t look to good were so disappointed if we cant go

Anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Busakorn wing, in Phuket
Would love to know what you thought of it!

Holiday Inn is the last place i would stay in Phuket. ok, maybe not the last ….. but come on. you go to an exotic tropical island and stay at a stale international middle class hotel ? there are countless very affordable beachfront resorts in Phuket that would blow Holiday Inn out of the water.

How does one pronounce ‘Phuket’, the Thai holiday destination?

I would like to spend my new year in Koh Samui and I have already booked my flight and tickets. However I wish to know if it is safe to travel to Bangkok and Kuh Samui at this time? I would not like to go there and get caught up in a troubled country and spoil my holiday.

Any advice would be helpful.

At least right now it is safe to travel here. Can’t predict the future, but even with the protest no tourist has been harmed. This is a Thai issue only. The problem for tourist were the blockade of the airport and sometimes roads during protest marches. Best if there are any protest when your here just keep away from those areas. The yellow Army is at happy now but the Red Army is just a little pissed off now. Have a nice vacation.

I go on holiday from 30th Oct- 9th Nov. Want to know if there is going to be any sun??? from what i hear it might be raining all the time…

Can i suggest your download yahoo widgets 4.05 There is a nice tool bar that keeps you updated on the weather @ a particular city .

You can change it to the city you are visiting now and maybe later to the city you reside in . You can configure it to give you a five day forecast

It is the season for rain there but my experience and what i read shows that the rain would go off in 2 to 3 hours .Then is sun and sea for you !

Your find many places in all these areas. If you got the money they will provide the service. But I was just wondering is it because you can’t satisfy her that she has to go to another.

going to thailand in april 2009 and i will be staying in bangkok for 2 or 3 days phuket probably 7 days and koh samui 4 days, could u reccomend some day tours in these places. im interested in the Phang Nga Bay canoe cave explorer, Siam safari elephant camp trek, and the green leaf Khao national park tour. but any others u would reccomend would be a great help! Im a 22 year old female and will be travelling with a male!

Just about every second shop (in Phuket) has a tour desk. They will have brochures of all the tours you can take. Have a look at them; get some prices and then book. Most agents take bookings up to 9pm the night before you want to go on the trip. There’s a lot to see and do. One recommendation is to take the drive to Promthep Cape & Rawai. There is also an aquarium that you might want to check out.

A number of tour companies offer trips to Phi Phi; most are very good and safe. Just remember: you get what you pay for. A good trip to Phi Phi should cost you between 2400 Baht and 2800Baht. When you find them offering trips for under 2000Baht, there is usually a reason why they are so cheap.

All Phi Phi Islands visits include pickup from your hotel lobby, some snorkeling, and relaxing for a couple of hours on their clean beaches. None of the trips are more than 10 hours in length (even the half day trip is also 7-8 hours). Tours usually depart around 8am or later for ?- day trips. In all, they are all safe and cover exactly same locations. But the tour info desk staff will advise you best.

Thailand is a land of smiles. You don’t need a tour group tp feel safe. Just don’t show off your pile of cash in the public, and you will be fine, it’s the same as all countries. If you treat everyone you meet with respect, you’ll make a lot of friends there.

1.Always insist on paying cab fares by metre.
2.Always bargain.
3.Always use condom for sex.
4.Always look out for good food.
5.Always ask yourself, do you need a Thai-girl, or a Tiger(beer).

The trees are dancing, the branches of leaves are waving at you…..enjoy!

Has anyone ever been to the Chaiyaphum or Chonburi province in Thailand for holidays?

I recently spent 3 weeks in Thailand, (Bangkok, Pattaya, Sri Racha, Phu Khieo) I asked this question because i seen next to no other ‘farang’ in the out of the way places i went to, just wondering if anyone else can share some information on their experiances with me.
Thanks for the great answers guys, i now understand why i didn’t see any farangs when i was in Chaiyaphum province, i really envy those guys living there.

Sure Chonburi has some farang - mainly people living in the Pattaya and surounding areas, but I think in general most farang who stay in Chaiyapum (I never went there) or other up-country places are basically living with there girlfriend/wives families in really low cost setting.

In the up-country places like Chaiyapum (Isan, etc.) I assume these few farangs that live in the other areas prefer to stay ‘really localized’ and not deal with other farangs because they prefer the ‘real thai culture’ of these up country places. If they get lonely they can easily visit Bangkok.

When it rains in Thailand, it rains hard and briefly, so there are always sunny periods in between. Besides, it’s the low season so everything is cheaper, it’s less crowded, and it’s cooler. Have a good trip. B
